EcoVadis, the world’s largest recognized provider of sustainability ratings, awards the Wanzl Group. The German company, headquartered in Leipheim in the Swabia region in Bavaria and with over 27 sales offices worldwide, has been awarded a silver medal for its responsible business practices in the Retail, Material Handling, Access Solutions, Airport, and Hotel Services business divisions. Wanzl is thus among the top 15 percent of all companies evaluated in the last twelve months. With 74 out of 100 possible points, Wanzl is even among the top 9 percent.
Since its founding in 2007, EcoVadis has assessed the sustainability performance of more than 150,000 companies from over 180 countries worldwide. With its reliable sustainability ratings, EcoVadis promotes transparency and mutual trust in more than 220 industries. With the voluntary certification by EcoVadis, Wanzl discloses how well the corporate group has integrated the principles of sustainability and CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) into its business and management system. "Responsibility towards employees, customers, business partners, the environment and society is an integral part of our corporate identity. The EcoVadis certification is therefore an important building block for driving our sustainability activities forward. We want to ensure more transparency and comparability. After all, as a participant in the world’s largest voluntary sustainability initiative, the UN Global Compact, we are also committed to contributing to a sustainable economy through responsible business practices," explains Peter Allaart, CEO of Wanzl.
The EcoVadis rating is based on a comprehensive assessment in the four areas of Environment, Labor and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The result was recorded in a scorecard with points, which enables Wanzl to document its sustainability measures and make them available to business partners. The EcoVadis methodology is based on international sustainability standards – such as the Global Reporting Initiative and the United Nations Global Compact – and is monitored by a scientific panel of CSR and supply chain experts.
"In the EcoVadis sustainability rating, our sustainability performance to date has been assessed transparently, independently, and based on uniform criteria. We are already on a good path, but we will of course still use the impulses received to reflect on the ongoing processes. The silver status empowers us to further improve our sustainability performance and take responsibility for current and future generations," confirms Henri Beranek, Senior Manager Sustainability at Wanzl.
