Hotel

Westin Hamburg (D)

Wellbeing in the Hanseatic city

You’ll find The Westin Hamburg by the edge of the Elbe River, right where the port meets the city. The hotel opened in November 2016, in the Elbphilharmonie – the city’s latest cultural and architectural landmark. Located in the eastern part of the building, The Westin Hamburg extends from the 6th storey to the top floor in the 20th storey. Its 205 rooms and 39 suites are all 40 metres or more above the Elbe River. The floor-to-ceiling windows of the glass façade open up a matchless view of bustling port life and the roofs of the metropolis. Each of the nine room categories is generously proportioned, from the Elbphilharmonie Room, to the Eigner Suite on the 19th floor, which comprises over 162 square metres and its own balcony. The interior design is inspired by natural elements such as water, wood and wind, and appeals to all the principles of wellbeing in distinctive Westin style. Wellbeing and relaxation are the focus throughout the hotel.

Guests reach the hotel through a separate entrance, or by taking Europe’s longest escalator. The tube – as the escalator is known – travels to the former roof of the old Kaispeicher warehouse, through a tunnel shining with light and colour. Once there, at a height of 37 metres, you can enjoy the panoramic view from the Plaza, of Hamburg and the port as a gateway to the world. The Plaza extends almost over the entire footprint of the Elbphilharmonie and, at 4,000 square metres, is almost as big as the Hamburg City Hall Marketplace. The Plaza is a bridge between worlds: where the historic Kaispeicher brick warehouse meets the contemporary glass concert hall and hotel building. From here, the hotel’s guests arrive in the lobby or the Plaza Foyer, the hotel bar, the Bridge Bar, The Saffron Restaurant and the Elbe Spa Area.

Marina Martens, Executive Housekeeping Manager at The Westin Hamburg, comments on her experience with Wanzl.

Wanzl supplied:

ZP 11 Eco chambermaid trolleys

The cleaners find these trolleys very easy to handle. The trolleys’ special wheels make them very easy to move and turn on carpeted floors. Spacer rollers prevent damage, for example to the walls. The flexible configuration leaves plenty of opportunity to tailor the trolley design to individual requests – whether for custom colours, material or equipment.

GS-Lobby | GS-Compact luggage collection trolley

Trolleys that are both agile and stable, as well as being easy to move. Their impressive capacity is ideal for large quantities of luggage.

MB-9 Smart DRIVE minibar trolley

The minibar trolley is simply fantastic. A large hotel with 244 rooms and suites needs a large trolley to enable fast, smooth service. This trolley enables us to work quickly and effectively, even when it is fully laden with countless bottles and heavy loads. It means we no longer need to constantly top up the trolley, which is otherwise hugely time-consuming. The electric motor makes handling easy, and takes the physical strain off the user.
