Luggage carts for three terminals

The new Terminal 5 at Riyadh Airport is the first privately-run terminal in Saudi Arabia, operated by the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA). Encompassing 100,000 m2 / 1,076,391 ft², it can accommodate 12 million passengers annually. At the same time as privatization, cart management was put out to tender again, and the contract was awarded to Ground Handling Logistics, the new Wanzl partner in Riyadh. In autumn 2016, Wanzl delivered 2,500 Travel 300 BL luggage carts in steel, 4 Airport Scooters for luggage cart transport, and 30 Porter 2000 carts for handling luggage for groups, to Terminals 1, 2, and 5. Ground Handling Logistics is responsible for a variety of luggage services at 24 airport terminals in Saudi Arabia, making the company an ideal collaboration prospect for Wanzl. At the same time, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), the body responsible for operating Saudi Arabian airports, is planning to privatize all 27 of them by 2020.

Riyadh Airport,

with over 22 million passengers annually, is the second-largest air transport hub in Saudi Arabia after Jeddah. The massive fleet renewal and expansion program being undertaken by Saudia airline, and the growth in the low-cost segment are driving rapid airport development.
