The United Nations Global Compact is the world’s largest and most important initiative for sustainable and responsible corporate governance. Wanzl, and 21,000 other companies and organizations worldwide, has recently become part of this alliance.

Protecting the environment is an important issue for Wanzl, as is the careful use of natural resources. We are very aware that our activities influence nature. That’s why we ensure that raw materials are used as sparingly as possible and that we maintain a responsible relationship with the environment. All sustainable measures at Wanzl are coordinated by an internal environmental committee.

Wanzl is one of the biggest electroplating businesses in Europe and is regarded as an environmental pioneer in surface coating: The electroplating technology used includes a three-stage chrome plating process – to protect people and the environment.
Our electroplating plant in Leipheim is exemplary and meets strict requirements in terms of sustainability. The exhaust air is thoroughly cleaned down to the smallest particle using wet scrubbers and droplet separators. The high air turnover ensures a good indoor climate.
Environmentally-friendly hall heating is achieved by using exhaust air heat, potentially saving three million kilowatt-hours of energy. In comparison: this regenerative use of energy from waste heat corresponds to a gas volume of 270,000 cubic meters (9,534,963.6 cubic feet) or 300,000 liters (79,251.6 gallons) of heating oil. The CO2 reduction compared to fossil energy use is over 500 metric tons (551.2 US tons) or more than 770 tonnes (848.8 US tons) of CO2.
