ICA Maxi (S)

Shopping in XXL format

Swedish customers are showing a growing preference for weekly big shops, and are travelling long distances to large shopping centres. They therefore require shopping trolleys with a generous basket volume, alongside their spacious Volvos.

Wanzl, together with its Swedish representative Expedit, delivered 1,000 of the new EL 315 shopping trolleys to the Swedish chain store ICA Maxi.

With a capacity of 315 litres, this shopping trolley once again offers more space compared with the Wanzl EL 275 model, of which 16,000 have been delivered to Scandinavia to date. The new trolley holds six ICA bags in which the customer can sort the selected goods according to type and weight. The relatively low basket depth ensures that loading and unloading products is easy, despite the large capacity.

At the same time, the new trolley model can be optimally combined with the "purchase by self-scanning" offered by ICA Maxi.

Upon entering the store, the customer picks up a hand-held scanner and attaches this to a holder fitted to the shopping trolley handle. He then scans the item prices, places the goods in the ICA bags in the shopping trolley, and doesn't have to touch them again until they are unpacked at home.
