A look behind the Asian hotel scene

There is no need to take a trip around the world and an eleven-hour flight to stroll through Asian street flair. No – Japan is now also in Düsseldorf. The Japanese Quarter, not far from the Rhine, has impressed visitors to the city with its first-class Asian restaurants, tea bars and shops for years. If you want to experience a night in the Far East, then simply check into the me and all hotel düsseldorf. With bamboo walls, delicately patterned cushions and lucky cats, the hotel is stylish, modern and unique. The hotel is adapted to the Asian look down to the smallest detail, even the work utensils are designed according to the ideas of the management. And the same goes for the Mundus – Wanzl Hotel Service’s chambermaid trolley.

An unobtrusive, discreet and elegant graphite black gives the Mundus a stylish appearance in the corridors of the hotel’s floors. The chambermaid trolley therefore blends perfectly with the hotel’s ambience and warm, earthy colours. In addition to the design, its diverse application possibilities and the option of individual configuration present a convincing argument right from the start. After all, not only management is faced with a real challenge at the me and all hotel, with the lobby, co-working area, sky lounge, gym and 177 rooms on 10 floors, but also the housekeeping team. Khanittha Geißler, who is responsible for all the operational and administrative duties related to housekeeping at the me and all hotel düsseldorf finds it difficult to imagine life without the trolley in the day-to-day running of the hotel: "The trolleys are easy to work with and offer generous storage areas inside. This makes our housekeeping work very efficient." In total, we have 15 Mundus chambermaid trolleys adapted to the specific needs of the hotel in use. Besides the base frame with four shelves, two of which are variably adjustable, there is a garbage bag holder with lid for waste separation on the right-hand side. On the left-hand side, a polyester bag with a volume of 110 litres can be attached in order to remove soiled linen.

Khanittha Geißler mentions another special feature: "Space in our elevators is rather tight. It is therefore very practical that both holders as well as the storage grids on the sides can be folded in. This allows us to move from floor to floor efficiently and easily with the chambermaid trolley." The 'fifth wheel on the wagon' also serves a useful purpose with the Mundus – placed in the middle of the trolley floor, it ensures easy manoeuvrability. Wanzl's customer service is also easy and flexible. The castor wheels in the me and all hotel were subsequently refitted from 200 mm to 160 mm. Thanks to the smaller castor wheels, the deflector wheels run on the skirting boards of the hotel, preventing damage to the walls. That is impressive, says Catherine Bouchon, spokesperson of the Lindner group of companies, which the me and all hotel is part of. She adds: "We have relied on Wanzl chambermaid trolleys at the Lindner Hotels for a long time. The quality and durability of the products impress us anew every time. In addition, the extensive design and equipment variants enable us to use the perfect product for each of our hotels.”

Of course, the me and all hotel düsseldorf is not the only Wanzl customer to request an individual design. Thanks to the new online configurator, the Mundus can be adapted to any customer requirement with just a few clicks. The special feature of the adaptation process is in the (great) freedom of design. Changes can be made at any time and can be viewed straight away. Should one option clash with another, the incompatibility is automatically pointed out.
