Strong vote of confidence for Wanzl Logistics + Industry

Deutsche Post DHL orders another 28,000 package roll containers

Deutsche Post DHL provided a clear sign of Wanzl's quality promise and customer focus in April of this year. Germany's largest postal and logistics service provider ordered another 28,000 package roll containers. Wanzl previously delivered around 50,000 licensed reproduction trolleys to DHL parcel centres between 2013 and 2017. Online commerce is booming, and Deutsche Post DHL is benefiting from the strong growth of the logistics industry. Logistics expert DHL transports more than one billion packages and parcels nationwide every year, and the trend is still rising.

In order to handle the enormous number of parcels and to supply its customers on schedule, Deutsche Post DHL requires smooth intralogistics. Durability, customisation and the innovative functions of tools and transport aids are crucial success factors for effective work processes in a virtually uninterrupted operation. Wanzl package roll containers meet these high standards down to the very last detail. The trolleys are equipped with special, heavy-duty swivel castors that can be quickly converted to fixed castors using a special mechanism, ensuring accurate and stable movement. This saves time by allowing up to five trolleys to be coupled and manoeuvred by hand or by towing them along. The containers were also modernised, receiving a uniform appearance across Europe, and the lettering "Property of DHL" on one side. This new feature is important, considering 4,000 of the 28,000 package roll containers are being delivered to countries such as Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and France.

For this reason, Wanzl was the first licensed reproducer to carry out a CE test on roll containers. "We need the CE mark to be able to use the roll containers outside Germany. We've made all the necessary adjustments in the engineering and manuals according to the risk assessment. We now fulfil all requirements, which ensures the highest level of safety when handling our package roll containers," says Markus Spengler, head of the Wanzl Logistics + Industry Division.

Users will also benefit from the innovative spirit of Wanzl's engineers. The folding and nestable trolley design allows the containers to be stored in a space-saving manner when empty, while a locking brake ensures maximum safety when stationary. This year, you'll have a good chance to form your own impression of Wanzl Logistics + Industry's performance in the postal sector. "We will be making our very first appearance at POST-EXPO 2018, the leading international trade fair for the post and parcel sector. We see great potential in the growing logistics sector, and are convinced that we, as a reliable and innovative company, are an ideal development partner and solution provider for a number of market participants," Markus Spengler says regarding his ambitions.
