Full power for order picking

New from Wanzl: lithium-polymer batteries for the KT "drive" series

Mobile power with a long service life from Wanzl: the KT "drive" series of order-picking trolleys with electrically-driven fifth wheel is now powered by efficient lithium polymer batteries. Furthermore, the pick-by-light accessory and peripheral equipment such as monitors, radio scanners and printers can be powered for longer with the new batteries. Wanzl offers two types of battery according to the operating time and energy required, either a 10 Ah or 20 Ah version. Thanks to their higher energy density, the new 25-volt batteries are smaller and weigh less than half that of previous models, and, with a service life of at least 500 full-charge cycles, the new batteries also have demonstrably greater durability. After many years of use, the batteries can then be recycled in an environmentally friendly manner.

Battery & charger

The new lithium-polymer batteries supply power to the electric motor integrated into the hub on the fifth wheel on KT "drive" series trolleys, ensuring adequate current for the driving force and directional stability of the trolley. This approach allows loads of up to 400 kg to be moved and manoeuvred safely with minimal effort. When the battery is in use, a five-stage charge/residual capacity display provides continuous and precise monitoring of the current charge status and operating time of the battery. Charging is quick and easy – remove the battery using the convenient handle and connect it to the compact microprocessor-controlled charger, which has been designed with space-saving in mind. The charging process and battery voltage are continuously monitored, thus ensuring that the battery cannot be overcharged. The LED display indicates the current charge status of the battery. The 10 Ah battery is ready for order picking again after just 3 hours of charging. The capacity and service life of these new Wanzl batteries are not compromised by frequent partial discharges and subsequent charging.

KT "drive" control centre from Wanzl

The KT "drive" program from Wanzl functions as a mobile control centre and integrates a variety of logistics processes, allowing order picking to be linked to computer-controlled stock management systems, feedback to the stock management system and printing of delivery labels. The "pick by light" system supports staff during error-free order picking and prevents time-consuming reinspection and additional costs due to incorrect delivery. The KT order picking models from Wanzl are modular, offering flexibility and the opportunity for future retrofitting. The wide range of sizes, heights and equipment versions available ensures a high degree of variability as well as flexibility in manual order picking. The trolley dimensions have been coordinated with the Euro norm box to ensure optimum use of the space available for loading. Wanzl offers an extensive range of accessories for every order picking task.

Wanzl offers a compact, microprocessor-controlled charger for the new lithium-polymer batteries. The minimum charge time is three hours (for 10 Ah batteries).
