Versatile package roll containers from Wanzl

The new modular system

Package roll containers are used to transport packages securely and reliably. Online retail is booming, and so is the number of packages to be delivered. In order to continue to guarantee smooth processing, customised transport aids are a decisive factor for optimal logistics. Wanzl has now developed a modular system that allows the production of package roll containers with numerous equipment options to be individually configured. Previously, package roll containers were produced either under license or on a customer-specific basis. The latter was very time-consuming and often only possible if a minimum order quantity was met. The new standardised modular model covers almost all customer requirements and, thanks to the wide range of options available, also opens up the possibility of customised designs. Alongside other advantages, this significantly reduces delivery times.

Numerous accessories for individual solutions

The basic structure is available in two different versions in which the two side panels and the rear panel are either made of sheet metal or wire mesh. You can then choose between two base area sizes (1,200 mm x 800 mm or 1,200 mm x 1,000 mm) and choose the desired height from four options (1,600 mm to 1,900 mm). In addition, there is an open design consisting of a chassis, two side panels and a rear panel, as well as lashing straps for securing the load. The closed design, on the other hand, includes lockable mesh doors and optionally a foldable top shelf made of wire mesh. The goods can be locked and protected against theft by means of an additional padlock. What is more, empty Wanzl roll cages can be folded into an L-shape to save space when they are not needed. This means that they are not only easy to store, but are also practical to transport when they are returned empty in the lorry.
Furthermore, Wanzl package roll containers can be equipped with numerous accessories to create individual solutions. Foldable handles or, alternatively, a handle bar serve as a manoeuvring aid and allow the roll containers to be pushed and pulled ergonomically. Equipped with a coupling-drawbar system, up to five roll containers can be pulled in a train. The coupling can be easily and securely opened and locked using a foot pedal. A fixing mechanism ensures safe loading and unloading. When the mechanism is actuated, two feet are extended to prevent the container from rolling away. Further safety equipment includes tension straps, which are available as a set of three in two different versions, and a safety net, which offers additional protection for open package roll containers. With these equipment options, Wanzl has created a broad scope for innovative and individual design within the standardised modular system.

Smart package roll containers for optimised logistics.

Wanzl roll cages can also be equipped with smart WiFi and wireless network trackers. A tracker is attached to an asset (load carrier, roll cage or the goods themselves), which can then be reliably monitored and coordinated thanks to the regular transmission of position data. The data is transmitted to the customer, giving them full control and, among other things, ensuring that any package roll containers that go missing can be found again quickly. With this function, they can be deployed globally in material logistics and in the post-parcel environment for optimised logistics.
