Co-operative Group (GB)

Wanzl is the logistics partner of the Co-operative Group

The Wanzl UK Group was awarded a multi-million pound contract by the British Co-operative Group. The roll-out for the back-of-store warehouse equipment has already started and will continue through to the end of the year.

This contract is a milestone for Wanzl's Logistics + Industry division in the United Kingdom.

Wanzl is thereby demonstrating its competence as a major supplier to one of the big five retailers in British food retail. The KT2 and KT3 trolleys are the first choice for order picking in a highly competitive market," says Gareth Dando, L+I specialist at Wanzl UK. Back-of-store operations are increasingly under scrutiny as retailers realise the tremendous potential for cost savings and efficient workflows. These equipment choices are becoming more critical for many large supermarket brands in terms of cost-efficiency in the warehouse as the UK continues to embrace omni-channel retail, characterised by click-and-collect, "dark stores" and home deliveries of online orders.

"Very different processes for storage and order picking operate in the many store formats of the Co-operative Group.

This diversity requires a common basis – a high level of consistency and continuity for workflows and equipment is required. Here the KT2 and KT3 picking trolleys are the best choice.
Wanzl transport trolleys featuring two levels also support order picking in completely different business and warehouse situations." As a system supplier for retail and logistics solutions, with an extensive product range, excellent service quality, maximum production capacity and guaranteed delivery reliability, Wanzl is the ideal partner for the 2,800 stores of the Co-operative Group that are being upgraded to the new equipment. "The custom-built order picking trolleys, tailored to the requirements of the Co-operative Group, provide cost-effective support for the daily workflow and make life easier for everyone involved. For Wanzl UK it is an honour to work for the Co-operative Group and to be involved in shaping these crucial innovations", confirms Gareth Dando.
