Wanzl is launching its new generation of plastic shopping trolleys in September: the Salsa. The roll-out of the model marks a fresh new departure in terms of design, appearance and smooth motion. A look back into the past confirms the success story of plastic shopping trolleys from Wanzl, as it was nearly 15 years ago that the Tango model made a big splash by transforming the retail scene. Since that time, the premium trolley with a basket volume of 90 to 240 litres has been dancing round the world and making shopping trips more pleasant, comfortable and colourful.
So, what's the Salsa all about? Well, first of all, the model has an impressive appearance, thanks to its striking new design concept. The trolley is vibrant looking and the structure of its basket is a chaotic web of varied, repeated interweaving lines that looks as if it has grown organically. The Salsa name has a new ring to it – and the trolley looks and is very new indeed. It's also the perfect companion for a pleasant shopping experience: Its 150-litre basket offers plenty of room, and small and sensitive items can be stored safely and securely in the combination child seat/small item shelf. Large branding areas on the end of the basket and the sides of the shopping trolley offer plenty of space to showcase supermarket logos and increase brand recognition. The basket comes in five different colours as standard and is also available in a customised supermarket corporate image variant as an option. The Salsa offers all the benefits familiar from the Tango. For example, its long-lasting, hygienic plastic baskets can withstand acids, lye and detergents. They are also resistant against climate effects, including high UV radiation, ice, snow and salty ocean air. The basket without metal reinforcement is EAS and RFID-compatible, which reliably reduces inventory differences.
With its original Wanzl castor wheels (including ball bearings), the Salsa dances dynamically, yet also quietly and smoothly, through supermarket aisles and out into the car park. The trolleys can be stacked and unstacked discreetly and without making a lot of noise, so they won't annoy local residents, customers or supermarket staff.
The Salsa will initially be released with a basket volume of 150 litres. Additional variants for all customer groups – from singles to families – will then follow. The Salsa is a shopping trolley that can be used in any setting – it's perfect for the daily stroll through the convenience store and also an ideal partner for the big weekly shopping trip in the hypermarket. The trolley's optional bottom tray conveniently increases its loading capacity for PET containers and other bulky items, which helps boost sales. The Salsa also comes with a practical accessory in the form of the Promobox Plus S-Grip handle unit with a cup and scanner holder. In terms of its price, the Salsa plastic shopping trolley offers an interesting alternative to metal trolleys.
The Salsa is the new generation of plastic shopping trolleys. The chaotic web structure of its basket is refreshingly new. Shopping will therefore be getting even better in the autumn of 2016. The Salsa's unique appearance helps boost supermarket name recognition.
