Robust ProTec 3 bumpers in operation
The new 'ProTec 3' bumper effectively protects the cooling counters and shop fittings from collisions with shopping and transport trolleys, light forklift trucks and floor cleaning machines.
'ProTec 3' is specially recommended for stores with shopping trolleys of various different sizes in operation. The bumper can be adapted to any store and operating situation, and can be swiftly assembled. In November 2005, Wanzl conducted a test installation at the METRO Group in the deep freeze section of the newly refurbished and expanded METRO Cash & Carry wholesale store
on Schlüterstrasse in Düsseldorf. For the subsequent first order last Autumn, Wanzl fitted the entire half-kilometre long deep freeze section, along with several shelves and displays at the new METRO Cash & Carry wholesale store in Berlin Friedrichshain with the 'ProTec 3' bumper. The sturdy bumper, made of moulded electro-galvanised sheet steel, is to be fitted to protect refrigeration equipment in the deep freeze sections of supermarkets in the 28 countries in which METRO Cash & Carry is in operation.
METRO Cash & Carry wholesale store in Berlin Friedrichshain
The 14,000 square metre METRO Cash & Carry superstore, opened last autumn at Berlin's Ostbahnhof station, demonstrates particular expertise with respect to food and freshness, and provides everything required for the professional kitchen. Highlights of the new wholesale store include the 300 square metre Fish section and the wine humidor, comprising 600 wines from every continent. The fresh produce section is tipped with an innovative concept for deep freezing, which guarantees
that every product will always be in store – even if it's not in season or if it has run short due to high demand. The METRO Fußballhimmel [football heaven] on the 18,000 square metre METRO C&C store roof. Schools and teams in the Friedrichshain district have been using the FIFA approved football pitch since October.
