Dynamic order picking, autonomous transportation: With dynamic material handling, you can advance your company's intralogistics processes! Our new logistics concept is based on the goods-to-person principle and improves both order picking performance and ergonomics at work.
Dynamic material handling, autonomous transportation
- No more time- and energy-consuming journeys
- Better order picking performance
- Less strain on employees
- Can be retrofitted in a gradual process
Our new concept optimises essential processes such as the warehousing and supply of goods, or the navigation of order picking trolleys. Automatic order picking warehouses form the core of the system.
The entire loading unit is transported to the ergonomic delivery gate so that the ordered items can be removed. The order picker removes the required amount and requests the next item. The use of modern carousel storage solutions optimises the utilisation of warehouse volume by up to 80% compared with conventional, static warehousing solutions such as shelving racks.
Automatic order picking warehouses have a fixed capacity limit and are individually configured to suit the capacity requirements of the customer. They contain entire storage units of various kinds, which are available on an on-call basis.
It is based on a standardised modular construction system, and can therefore be configured for customer-specific requirements and the loading aids used, e.g. plastic crates, ensuring maximum capacity utilisation. When the system is in use, the requested storage unit is transported to the delivery gate on moving supports that operate in a similar style to a Ferris wheel. The highly compressed storage structure enables the Twister V-350 to perform order picking for small to medium-sized items in high storage areas.
Customers can choose from two basic data management systems: an external warehouse management system, connected to the warehouse via a Java-based interface or direct organisation by means of machine control via a touchscreen unit. Users then only need a simple item list to move goods in and out of storage. Each respective item simply needs to be assigned to a fixed storage location. Even existing lists can be incorporated into a shared database using a PC or network cable. This database can be accessed by the carousel storage units – up to three of them – that make up an entire machine.
Autonomous onward transportation
Once an order is complete, an automated robot (Automated Guided Vehicle – AGV) transports the order picking trolley to the desired area. Thanks to these vehicles, the troublesome, strenuous transporting of empty or fully loaded trolleys will soon be a thing of the past for employees. The robot moves order picking trolleys efficiently and safely to the specified spot using a gripper arm. What makes it so unique is that it generally does not require any conversion of existing facilities, nor any special programming skills.
The system can be operated and programmed with ease using a tablet or smartphone.
