The new shopping concept for non-contact item detection brings the future to the present. The system includes M³EA shopping trolleys for pre-sorting and automatic goods detection on the shelves using UHF antennae, goods identification using UHF labels in the scan tunnel and the self-checkout at the eGate exit system which is linked to the pay station.
Two components add to the ideal variant of pre-sorted shopping – convenient transportation from checkout to car to home:
The M³EA shopping trolley for three GT26 baskets and additional loading space on the handle and bottom tray. Developed by Wanzl in co-operation with the Metro Group Future Store Initiative.
The GT26 shopping basket with unique design and ergonomically shaped to fit the body.
In conjunction with intelligent merchandise management, UHF read antennae integrated into the bases of the shelves automatically record the goods inventory and associated best before dates, detect missing stock and order goods based on this information.
In a matter of seconds, the latest UHF antennae can register hundreds of items in the new M3EA shopping trolley. This makes long queues a thing of the past.
The payment terminal automatically receives the recorded goods data from the scan tunnel via LAN. Card payment increases customer-friendliness.
The exit gate from Wanzl networked to the system via LAN is released following correct payment and opens for the customer. Tampering attempts are reported immediately.
Smart shopping means shopping with the highest level of convenience: no more troublesome laying out of goods at the start of the checkout and packing them away again at the other end; you can go straight home with goods that have been pre-sorted in your basket.
